John Hunter Hospital Emergency Department is one of Australia’s busiest and most respected mixed Adult and Paediatric tertiary referral centres. We are the only Trauma Referral Centre in NSW outside Sydney, caring for more than 85,000 presentations annually, and delivering world-class emergency care across a diverse and complex patient population.
About the Emergency Department
Our Emergency Department provides comprehensive care across:
Adult and Paediatric Resuscitation and Trauma Bays
Acute Adult and Paediatric areas
Fast Track
Emergency Short Stay Unit (ESSU)
We manage a wide range of high-acuity presentations, including:
Major trauma
Neurosurgical and neurological emergencies (including acute stroke)
Cardiology and cardiothoracic emergencies
Major orthopaedic presentations
Paediatric and adolescent mental health care
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Enrolled Nurses who are passionate about emergency care and committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to our community.
You will be supported by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including:
Clinical Nurse Educators
Clinical Nurse Unit Managers
Clinical Nurse Specialists

Enrolled Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA
Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
