About Us
Ward 5D is a 28-bed General Medicine and Rehabilitation ward that is currently operating from the brand-new Maitland Hospital, while John Hunter Hospital undergoes major upgrades. Our modern facility features spacious layouts, state-of-the-art equipment, and predominantly single patient rooms, providing both patients and staff with an excellent care environment.
We care for a diverse patient group, including those recovering from acute illness or injury, managing complex medical conditions, and undergoing rehabilitation to regain independence. This makes Ward 5D an ideal setting to develop broad clinical skills in both medicine and rehabilitation.
Our team is close-knit, collaborative, and supportive. We pride ourselves on open communication, respect, and teamwork, creating a workplace culture where both patients and staff feel safe and valued. Many of our senior nurses provide mentorship and guidance, making 5D a fantastic environment for learning, growth, and career progression.
