About the Role

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. 

The Engineering Services Manager is responsible for the leadership, operational management, and strategic oversight of the Engineering Department. The department delivers a broad range of essential services, including plant operations and maintenance and the effective management of the built environment to support safe and efficient healthcare service delivery.

Primarily based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH), the role also provides strategic support across facilities throughout SLHD. This diverse and influential position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, contribute to district-wide initiatives and outcomes, and participate in key meetings and professional development activities. Occasional travel to other locations and attendance outside standard business hours may be required to meet operational priorities and service demands.

Ideal Candidate

  • Tertiary qualifications in a building services or facility management related discipline or a demonstrated broad range of experience across the board in this field, including operational management of a service delivery department across a large asset portfolio. 
  • Fundamental understanding of building services and plant operations in a health care environment. 
  • Substantial experience in personnel and financial management of engineering, maintenance and building projects and the ability to coordinate the activities of multi-disciplinary groups. 
  • Well-developed negotiating skills specifically in the area of capital asset replacement projects, service agreements and building services activities. 
  • The ability to participate on a Mon - Fri roster must be flexible to work any site 
  • Healthcare or similar experience is desirable but not essential. 
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
