As the Emergency Short Stay Unit Ward Clerk, you will step into a newly established and highly rewarding role at the centre of a fast-paced healthcare environment, playing a pivotal part in optimising patient flow, supporting data integrity, coordinating follow-up communication processes, and enhancing medical billing and revenue outcomes. With a strong focus on day-only certification and streamlined administrative operations, this position is integral to ensuring efficient, seamless, and patient-centred service delivery within the Emergency Short Stay Unit.

Where you’ll be working:
The Emergency Short Stay Unit is co-located with Maitland Emergency Department. This is a new service at Maitland Hospital and is part of the Critical Care team. It is a small unit with 8 beds, however, to support the busy Emergency Department, there is a high flow through. The Maitland Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services including maternity, gynaecology, paediatrics and special care nursery, medical service and rehabilitation, surgery, orthopaedics and day surgery. We have a busy emergency department and an adult intensive care unit as well as mental health, dental, renal and diagnostic services onsite.
