Our Emergency Department is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Assistant in Nursing to join our dedicated team as an Emergency Department Support Officer. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys working closely with patients and clinicians and is committed to providing safe, high‑quality care.

This is a fast paced environment where you’ll support the Nursing and Medical teams in delivering timely, patient‑centred care across all areas of the ED, including Triage, Acute Treatment spaces and short‑stay units. Your contribution will help ensure smooth patient flow, improved comfort, and a positive experience for patients and families during some of their most vulnerable moments. This is a position where you are calm under pressure, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a team that works around the clock to deliver exceptional emergency care. You bring empathy, initiativeand a strong commitment to patient dignity and safety.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Holds Certificate III) in Health Services Assistance (Assistant in Nursing work in Acute Care); or currently enrolled as a 2nd year Undergraduate Nursing Student with previous experience working in an acute care facility
  2. Good written and verbal communication skills
  3. Demonstrated ability to conduct nursing practice in a manner that respects the rights of individuals and groups
  4. Demonstrated ability to use computer-based applications and information systems.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  6. Demonstrated flexibility in performance of duties, customer service delivery and attention to detail
  7. Availability and capacity to participate in a 24 hour/ seven-day rotating roster which includes working all shifts, all days of the week including public holidays
