Drug and Alcohol Peer Support Worker

Remuneration: $64,985.00 – $108,229.00 per annum, pro rata  (+ super +17.5% leave loading where applicable)

What you’ll be doing 
Appropriately share one's personal lived experience and recovery with the aim of developing rapport with people accessing Community Drug and Alcohol services, to engender an atmosphere of trust, empathy, respect, hope and encouragement. Promote self-agency by supporting people who access the service to be actively involved in their own care through providing and explaining information about rights and responsibilities, how to navigate the drug and alcohol system, as well as providing other information and support as appropriate to their individual needs including advocacy where requested by the client.  
Act as an appropriate and effective role model with colleagues and clients, to actively promote the rights and responsibilities of clients at all times to challenge and lessen the impact stigma and discrimination in the local community and within the service.  
 

Candidates will be required to meet the following criteria: 

  • Australian recognised Health related qualification
  • Personal lived experience of receiving treatment for drug or alcohol use
  • NSW Working with children clearance
  • Compliance with Vaccination category A
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required
