Role Title: Director, People and Culture (x2 roles)
There are opportunities available at Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District to help shape the future of the health workforce in NSW.
About Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network
As the largest paediatric health care service in Australia, the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network incorporates two tertiary paediatric hospitals; The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick (SCH); Bear Cottage; the Newborn and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS) and the Children's Court Clinic. We provide paediatric translational research through our research entity, Kids Research. Our team of over 8,000 are committed to providing world-class paediatric health care in a family-focused, healing environment, transforming the health and wellbeing of children and young people now, and into the future.
This role works across our sites, primarily at Westmead and Randwick locations.
About the Director, People and Culture role within SCHN
The Director People and Culture leads the development and implementation of strategic human resource objectives, provides authoritative counsel and advice to the SCHN Executive and Board on all workforce matters, and manages workforce services functions to ensure human resource service delivery enables and facilitates the achievement of the SCHN business and service requirements. The role also leads in ensuring a safe working environment and supporting and developing staff in managing change, performance and leadership.
This is an ongoing, full time, Band 1, Health Service senior executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $218,617 - $243,563 per annum (SOORT 2025), with annual performance reviews, will be negotiated with the successful applicant. About South Eastern Sydney Local Health District
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it. SESLHD covers a geographical area of 468 square kilometres from Sydney’s Central Business District in the north to the Royal National Park in the south. SESLHD proudly delivers health care to around 930,000 residents and also provides a key role in caring for residents of Lord Howe Island. SESLHD manages nine hospitals and also delivers high quality health care across a variety of community-based services ranging from pre-birth to palliative care.
The base location for this role is flexible and can be discussed with the successful applicant. SESLHD’s main geographical locations are in Sydney CBD, Randwick, Kogarah and Caringbah. As a member of the SESLHD Executive team, the role would have a presence at all locations as needed.
About the Director, People and Culture role within SESLHD
The Director, People and Culture leads the development and implementation of strategic human resources objectives, and provides authoritative counsel and advice to the SESLHD Executive and senior stakeholders on all workforce matters, across human resources; industrial and employee relations; work health and safety; and learning, culture and capability.
This is an ongoing, full time, Band 1, Health Service senior executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $225,628 - $250,574 per annum (SOORT 2025), with annual performance reviews, will be negotiated with the successful applicant. About you
With your skills and experience, you can contribute to the millions of ways we’re enriching health and develop your career as part of the largest health organisation in Australia. We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who will have:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience at a senior level in the design, delivery, and management of integrated people and business transformation strategies and programs
- A track record of executive leadership gained within a complex, customer focused, multi-site organisation. This experience may have been through the public or private sector, however recent experience working within health would be desirable
