What you'll be doing
- The Director Child Wellbeing leads NSW Health’s Child Wellbeing program and services, providing strategic oversight and expert advice to NSW Ministry of Health, Local Health Districts and Speciality Networks, and to related government and non-government entities.
- The Director leads, supports and provides operational management to the Child Wellbeing Department at the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network which comprises the Southern Child Wellbeing Unit team and the Joint Referral Unit for the Joint Child Protection Response Program.
- Through statewide program delivery, clinical practice advice and policy development, the Director contributes to enhanced responses across NSW Health to vulnerable and at-risk children, young people, families and communities.
- Extensive knowledge of and demonstrated expertise in child protection and wellbeing policy and practice, an understanding of the legislative context for child protection intervention and an understanding of related reforms in NSW.
- In-depth understanding of service delivery functions in relation to child wellbeing and protection within NSW Health and across the human services sector in NSW.
- Demonstrated expertise in service planning and implementation, policy development and evaluation.
- Excellent skills and experience in team leadership, management of a complex workload and the effective use of resources and performance measures to achieve organisational strategic objectives.
- Demonstrated high level strategic analysis, advisory and problem-solving skill. An ability to formulate approaches and developing successful short term and long-term strategies and solutions.
- Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication, consultation, negotiation and leadership skills necessary to lead with vision, to respond to and resolve complex and critical issues and to maintain collaborative relationships.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
