About the Opportunity
An exciting leadership and management opportunity exists within Liverpool Hospital Dietetics Department. The successful applicant will manage a department of 30 FTE (including dietitian and dietitian assistants).

In addition to departmental management functions, the HOD is also expected to carry a clinical workload and lead projects that support improvement in service delivery and/or patient care, including as the lead for Nutrition Standard during accreditation.

This position suits an experienced clinician and leader/manager with hospital experience (preferably in a tertiary hospital setting). We are looking for someone who is resilient, visionary, has strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

What You'll be Doing
The Head of Department is responsible for the management of the Liverpool Dietitian services, with a leadership role for the profession of Dietetics within the department, including the management of professional standards and development of safety and quality. The position will also manage a clinical load commensurate with other duties.

  

Where You'll Be Working 
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

  1. Statement of qualifications required: Discipline specific tertiary qualifications as accepted by professional association 
  2. Demonstrated experience supervising staff and team performance
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in service management functions
  4. Demonstrated leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process
  5. Demonstrated high level communication skills (oral and written) including advocacy and negotiation skills.
  6. Demonstrated experience implementing Evidence Based Practice (EBP) into service planning and evaluation.
  7. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
