What you'll be doing
As the Device Integration Specialist, you'll provide technical leadership in the development, support and continuous improvement of electronic Medical Record (eMR) device integration platforms. You'll ensure critical clinical systems remain secure, available and reliable while delivering high-quality integrations that enable accurate, real-time clinical information to flow across the healthcare environment.

• Develop, configure, test and support medical device integrations across platforms including Cerner CareAware, iBus, Philips Gateway, Open Engine and related integration technologies.
• Lead integration planning, validation, deployment and operational support for eMR, PAS/iPM and associated clinical applications, ensuring clinically safe, reliable and fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Design and execute comprehensive testing, automation and monitoring processes to maintain system integrity, performance and interoperability.
• Analyse system performance, manage technical documentation, support governance requirements and proactively identify and resolve integration risks.
• Collaborate with clinicians, technical teams, vendors and statewide stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, standardisation and best practice across NSW Health.

1. Relevant Qualifications and Industry Experience: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Health Informatics, or a related discipline, and/or equivalent demonstrated experience in healthcare ICT, particularly supporting clinical systems and digital health environments.
2. Clinical Systems Integration Experience: Demonstrated experience supporting and integrating enterprise clinical information systems, including PAS, eMR (Cerner or equivalent), and digital health platforms. Strong understanding of patient information flows, interoperability, data integrity, and the role of integration in supporting safe and efficient clinical workflows.
3. Clinical Device Integration: Proven experience configuring, supporting, testing, and validating clinical device integrations within healthcare environments, including platforms such as Cerner CareAware and device gateways (e.g. iBus, Philips, GE Gateway or equivalent). Demonstrated ability to analyse and support end-to-end clinical data flows between medical devices and core clinical systems.
4. Messaging Standards and Data Analysis: Working knowledge of healthcare messaging and interoperability standards, including HL7 and DICOM, with experience in message analysis, validation, transformation, and troubleshooting. Understanding of clinical data structures and the ability to utilise SQL and other tools to support integration analysis and data integrity.
5. System Support and Change Management; Demonstrated experience supporting clinical applications and medical device interfaces in live healthcare environments, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, integration testing, vendor coordination, and adherence to change and release management processes to maintain reliable clinical services.
6. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical, integration, and data flow issues, and implement effective, sustainable solutions within high-risk clinical environments while maintaining patient safety and system reliability.
7. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Well-developed communication, consultation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for clinicians, vendors, and ICT teams. Proven ability to develop clear, accurate documentation supporting operational, technical, and business processes.
8. Professional Autonomy and Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work independently with initiative and accountability, while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams and managing competing priorities in complex healthcare environments.
