About the role

The Deputy Director of Nursing (DDoN) works with the facility Director of Nursing and Midwifery and Nurse Manager peers and is responsible for the efficient and effective day to day operational leadership and management of a comprehensive range of hospital services in accordance with Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) policy, community needs and budgetary allocation. Responsible for the organisation and management of nursing services, inclusive of emergency responses, to ensure the provision of patient centred, outcome directed care. 
  
Supporting the organisation to achieve the aims of the safety management system, establish and maintain a positive health and safety culture in the workplace and to consult with workers and others when making decisions that may impact upon the health, safety and welfare of those in the workplace.  
  
Clinician engagement and leadership has been a prominent feature of the public health system for a number of years, where clinician led clinical standards, safety and quality improvements have become a major focus. The Local Health District (LHD) is committed to the strengthening and ongoing involvement and clinician engagement of staff that provide direct patient care in the planning, delivery, improvement and evaluation of health services.
