The Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery (DDoNM) is responsible for the on-site leadership, co-ordination and daily operational management of the Demand, patient flow, after hours management, clinical support, infection prevention and control, and incident and risk management in collaboration with the Nursing and Midwifery Executive team, to ensure the provision of safe, compassionate and high quality person centred nursing and midwifery care and service delivery.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 
Access and Demand: Manage the operations of Demand Hub. Lead multidisciplinary patient access, flow and safety meetings to manage access against key performance targets.Support and facilitate active management of discharge planning including any long length of stay of patients within the facility.Monitor and support the delivery of performance KPIs relevant to site / service. Attend and participate in daily facility based Safety and Flow Huddles and support access and flow strategies. Attend to MoH requirements and reporting.   

Emergency Management: Provides leadership as Deputy Hospital Incident Controller (HIC) to support operational and strategic decision-making.Ensure that the Emergency Management Plans are updated and implemented effectively during incidents.Chair the Hospital Emergency Management Committee.Monitor Emergency Management Response training compliance.

Selection Criteria:
1. Current unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
2. Holds tertiary management qualifications and demonstrated evidence of recent professional development to further enhance leadership and management competencies
3. Extensive and recent broad clinical, operational and strategic experience at a senior level within an acute care facility with a demonstrated ability to function as part of the senior nursing and midwifery team working successfully with other professional and disciplines in the management of health care services.
4. Demonstrated high level verbal, written, interpersonal and negotiation skills, including the use of information technology platforms.
5. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of key performance indicators and the ability to identify key clinical issues related to demand, access and flow management where there are opportunities to enhance clinical services or improve health outcomes.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary nursing clinical and professional practice and its delivery and the ability to motivate, inspire and lead staff to achieve service and clinical outcomes.
7. Demonstrated experience in the application of change management and the ability to implement projects, initiatives and strategies.
