About the Role

Sydney Local Health District is one of the fastest growing Local Health Districts in New South Wales. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.

 

The Deputy Director is a senior executive role responsible for the strategic development, operationalisation and implementation of the initiatives under SIPfHER, Sydney Research and the Sydney Biomedical Accelerator. These initiatives include strategic coordination, stakeholder management and the management of financial and administrative services. The Deputy Director also leads the development and implementation of innovative strategies to support the strategic priorities of SIPfHER, Sydney Research and Sydney Local Health District, including strengthening research and innovation capacity, capability and opportunity to work closely with teams across and within SLHD, USYD and our partnering organisations.

 

The role also acts as a knowledge broker and facilitates the development and strengthening of networks between the academic, scientific and health research communities, the higher education sector, government and industry through delivering a program of communication, education and partnership initiatives.

 

The position holder will provide high level strategic leadership and advice on the management of sometimes highly sensitive and complex research projects which require thoughtful consideration.

Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications or experience in a clinical, research or health management field. 
  • Management and leadership experience in a complex organisation engaged in health and biomedical research and innovation to support the strategic priorities of the organisation. 
  • Strong project management and proven experience in developing and implementing program initiatives and projects, including the ability to concurrently manage multiple programs of work, whilst meeting deadlines/targets and achieving desired outcomes.
