About the role:
Join a dynamic and diverse team of data experts working together to use health information for improving health and wellness in NSW. This is an exceptional opportunity to grow your career as part of the largest health organisation in Australia. The System Monitoring and Insights (SMI) Unit is responsible for the collection and analysis of data and information that informs the evaluation of key strategic bodies of work. The primary purpose of the Data Analyst role is to support analytics functions to achieve the objectives of the SMI Unit. This includes descriptive and statistical analysis of linked health data. The successful candidate will have early career skills and experience in data management and analytics for producing statistical information and reports.
Health Manager level 1, starting salary from $87,813- $116,824 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.
What you’ll be doing
Carry out analyses of health data (including linked data) and produce statistical information to support the SMI Unit’s reporting priorities.
Assist in the preparation of written advice in the form of reports, briefs, policy, discussion papers, circulars and presentations.
Assist with formatting and quality assurance checking of reports, briefs, policy, discussion papers, circulars and presentations.
Be accountable for data cleansing and sorting activities to assist with the preparation of data sets for linkage and analysis.
Develop current knowledge of statistical methods and software relevant to health monitoring and evaluation to inform policy and project work.
About you:
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
Entry level work experience with appropriate tertiary qualifications. Knowledge and experience in the NSW Health system would be an advantage.
Experience in database management and the use of statistical analysis software such as SAS and R.
Strong communications skills, including the ability to liaise with a diverse group of co-workers and others and to interpret/deliver the information received or questions asked in a timely and effective manner.
Good organisational skills, initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities.
An intermediate understanding of and experience with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and to be able to utilise them to create presentations, graphs, reports and diagrammatic representations of concepts for a variety of work situations
