An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Registered nurse to join the multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal service at Royal North Shore Hospital in the role of Colorectal Cancer Nurse Coordinator.
This specialist role is pivotal in coordinating care for patients with colorectal cancers across the continuum of care. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the Cancer Nurse Coordinator provides expert clinical care, care coordination, patient education, and supportive care to patients and their families, ensuring timely, integrated and patient‑centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and optimise the patient journey across diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up for people with head, neck and thyroid cancers
- Act as a central point of contact for patients, carers, clinicians and external services
- Provide expert clinical nursing assessment, education, and supportive care
- Facilitate and participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, ensuring accurate documentation and follow‑up of care plans
- Support care planning that reflects best practice, clinical guidelines and patient preferences
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, data collection and reporting
- Provide leadership, education and support to nursing and allied health staff as appropriate

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- A Registered Nurse with Authority to Practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full-time post-graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in experience in Cancer Nursing. In addition, the applicant must have an approved postgraduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification, relevant to Cancer Nursing.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and contribute nursing expertise to the improvement of care within a multidisciplinary care team.
- Demonstrated experience utilising knowledge and advanced nursing skills in the assessment, care planning and provision of safe clinical care for patients with needs related to Cancer.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement through the use of evidence to evaluate care and implement change.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated excellent collaborative, leadership and teaching skills.
