Temporary Part Time - Clinical Trials Co-ordinator - Prince of Wales Hospital

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

What you'll be doing
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it. 

This position has a dual role. One is to supervise the vagal nerve stimulator (VNS) clinic which includes both adults and children from the whole state. The other is to supervise and coordinate clinical trials for the department of Neurology with particular attention to clinical trials in epilepsy. 

Cliical Coordinator, you will:

  • Co-ordination and management of Vagal Nerve Stimulator Program for NSW both Adult and Children with Epilepsy in conjunction with Director of Comprehensive Epilepsy Service, through the Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. NSW 2031

  • Co-ordination and management of research projects and clinical trials within the Comprehensive Epilepsy Service /Neurological Sciences, Prince of Wales Hospital.

  • General hospital duty requirements eg mandatory training, WHS requirements and other relevant duties as requested by the director or Head of Department.

Selection Criteria      

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
 

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Medical, Nursing or Health Science or relevant equivalent work experience or combination of study and work experience.
  2. Demonstrated experience or knowledge and appreciation of the requirements to run a successful VNS clinic, for both adults and children, including clear clinical communication, all necessary documentation as well as reporting and protocol updates and reporting of cost-related information.
  3. Demonstrated experience or knowledge and appreciation of the requirements to coordinate relevant clinical trials as required, including approval of study related clinical trial material by HREC/Governance, undertaking regular communication with the CRO and Principal Investigator, support site visits as required and correct and timely archiving of documentation and other relevant material for the appropriate period.
  4. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer services.
  5. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  6. High level skills in Microsoft Office suite of software and web-based applications.
  7. Ability to work unsupervised in a time efficient manner.
