About the Role
You will work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, alongside medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
This is a part-time role, shared with another Speech Pathologist. Core responsibilities include:
Delivering assessment and intervention services to adult inpatients within the rehabilitation unit
Managing communication and swallowing disorders
Providing education, training, and support to patients and carers
Contributing to service development, quality improvement, and promotion activities within both the Speech Pathology department and the rehabilitation unit
Typical working hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Solid clinical experience in rehabilitation settings
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Capacity to work independently with flexibility in a job-share arrangement
Strong organisational, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills
As your professional line manager is based offsite, you will need to be resourceful and confident working autonomously
Support & Team Environment
Orientation and training are provided by the Site Senior Speech Pathologist for the Cessnock/Kurri Kurri team (based at Cessnock District Hospital)
You will be part of a broader, highly supportive Speech Pathology network across Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, East Maitland Community Health, and Maitland Hospital
Regular clinical supervision, peer supervision (adult caseload), and team meetings are provided
Day-to-day support within the unit is available through the Rehabilitation Unit Nurse Unit Manager
Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities, supported through regular performance and development reviews (PDR)
Access to supervision, mentoring, and team support structures
Opportunities for additional shifts to cover leave or short-term vacancies
