What you'll be doing
The Clinical Psychologist will support patients during their stay at the acute Spinal Cord Injury Unit. The position will provide assessment and treatment of psychological issues that impact on adjustment to the acute SCI and also impact on engagement in the rehabilitation process.
Working with the multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other service providers, the Clinical Psychologist provides evidence based psychological assessment, psychometric assessment when indicated and psychological treatment through individual, family parenting and group treatment programs.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Full AHPRA registration as a Psychologist with a Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, with relevant clinical area in psychology and Post graduate experience.
- Can you describe the psychosocial challenges in persons with spinal cord injury across the continuum of care. What skills and experience do you bring to this role?
- Describe your experience supporting a specific challenging behaviour and the strategies you found useful in supporting patient and staff involved.
- Discuss a situation in how you managed a conflict within a multidisciplinary setting.
