What you'll be doing
The Sustaining NSW Families (SNF) program is a Nurse-led, structured sustained health home visiting program for children and families from pregnancy to 2 years of age.  The Clinical Psychology position is responsible for providing a specialist psychology service to the vulnerable families within the SNF Program.



Selection Criteria

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership as per the Health and Community Employees Psychologists (State) Award, plus significant clinical experience in in working with parents and families with infants experiencing complex parental psychosocial and mental health problems in the perinatal period. Noting a minimum general registration period of 3 years is highly desirable. The Clinical Psychology is a fully registered psychologist with the AHPRA Psychology Board of Australia with a masters degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or some other recognised clinical area in psychology that the employer deems relevant to the functions of the position. The postgraduate qualifications must be of no less than two years full time duration (or part-time equivalent) and include professional clinical coursework, clinical training and supervised placement experience as core components.
  2. Extensive experience in working with parents and families with infants experiencing complex parental psychosocial and mental health problems in the perinatal period with demonstrated knowledge of the impact of psychosocial and mental health problems on parenting, parent – infant relationships and infant development.
  3. Demonstrated advanced therapeutic skills in conducting complex psychosocial assessments and counselling with the ability to respond to the needs of vulnerable families (e.g. CALD) in stressful situations.
  4. Extensive Demonstrated clinical experience providing clinical consultation and facilitating case review, in the context of family centred casework within a community based multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to professional development, quality improvement and evidence based practice.
  6. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with high level time management, organisational skills and computer literacy.
  7. Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
