About Us
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is an exceptional environment to advance your career while enhancing your skills and expertise. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we deliver a comprehensive range of public health services across the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Regions.

Introducing the Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit (NAHMU), a fresh, purpose built 10-bed facility dedicated to supporting adolescents aged 12 to 17 who are navigating complex and severe mental health challenges. This state-of-the-art inpatient unit is the newest chapter in the Child, Youth and Family Mental Health (CYFMH) story, expanding its reach to provide compassionate, specialised care from the earliest stages of life through to young adulthood. NAHMU isn’t just a place of healing, it’s a vital step forward in empowering young people and their families with the support they need, when they need it most.

If you’re passionate about transforming the lives of young people experiencing acute mental health challenges, this is your opportunity to step into a role where your expertise truly matters. NAMHU is seeking a dedicated Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary allied health team and play a central role in supporting adolescents and their families through some of their most difficult moments.

In this senior position, you will work alongside the Senior Social Worker and Senior Occupational Therapist as a primary therapist and care coordinator for young people admitted to the unit. You will act as a key clinician for both young people and their families, guiding the development and implementation of care plans and delivering specialised assessment, formulation and evidence‑based interventions. Your advanced clinical skills will support diagnostic clarification, risk assessment and the delivery of individual, family and group therapies. Interventions will draw on CBT, DBT and other evidence‑based approaches tailored to the unique needs of each adolescent, addressing challenges such as mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, self‑harm, emotion dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties and trauma‑related presentations.

If you’re ready to bring your expertise, leadership and compassion to a team committed to making a real difference, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and help shape brighter futures for young people and their families.
