Clinical Psychologist – MotherSafe – The Royal Hospital for Women



What You'll Be Doing:

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it. MotherSafe is a free telephone service for the women of NSW, based at the Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick. The service provides a comprehensive counselling service for women and their healthcare providers concerns about exposures during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This may include prescription medication, radiation, occupational exposures, infections and recreational drugs. The MotherSafe service provides high quality and evidence based psychological assessment and brief intervention. The MotherSafe team work closely with local perinatal mental health services and provides referrals for all patients of MotherSafe and with priority access for those with nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) and hyperemesis gravidarum (HG).

Selection Criteria:

  1. Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with Endorsement in Clinical Psychology (or eligibility to progress to same), along with a minimum two-year full-time equivalent Master or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
  2. Demonstrated experience in the provision of psychological assessment and intervention in the context of Women’s Health
  3. Capacity to design and implement short and medium term, individual and group treatment protocols for a range of psychological issues
  4. Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills, organisational skills and time management skills
  5. Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff
  6. Demonstrated experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a health setting
  7. Demonstrated experience in and commitment to quality improvement and research
