We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our rotational pharmacy team within SESLHD. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of medicines across a range of clinical, operational, production, and distribution practice areas, in accordance with SHPA Clinical Practice Standards and SESLHD Pharmacy guidelines.

Where you'll be working
Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital is steeped in history, with a legacy of nursing and medical firsts to its credit and has paved the way in many clinical areas - both nationally and internationally. Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital is Australia's first hospital and dates from the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788. 


The Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital started at Millers Point in 1882 and moved to Woolloomooloo in 1922. In 1996 Sydney Eye Hospital was relocated from Sir John Young Crescent site to Macquarie Street to form The Sydney and Sydney Eye Hospital.


The Role

The position will rotate through a variety of clinical, operational (dispensary) and production teams on a rotation schedule.

Some Key Responsibilities are:
  • Provide structured clinical pharmacy services to ensure safe, effective, and economical use of medicines.
  • Perform medicine review, validation, dispensing, compounding, and checking in line with local procedures and training.
  • Supervise and support pharmacy assistants and technicians per legislative and departmental guidelines.
  • Promote quality use of medicines through patient-centred care, medication reviews, and evidence-based initiatives.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, NSW Health, SESLHD, and professional standards.
  • Engage in Continuing Professional Development and contribute to departmental education and research.
  • Collaborate effectively within the team to enhance patient care and service delivery.
  • Support resource efficiency by minimising medication waste and promoting cost-effective practices.
  • Uphold NSW Health CORE values and maintain high standards of safety, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in a 7-day rotating roster, including flexible hours, on-call, weekends, and public holidays across SESLHD sites.
