As a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 in SESLHD you will provide individualised, case managed complex patient/ client care and leadership for Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital Hand Clinic to maximise the health outcomes for the patient/client.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 in SESLHD you will be recognised as a healthcare professional employing your clinical skills and critical thinking in delivering high quality patient care. You will exercise extended autonomy of decision making and professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 you will provide specialist clinical practice across a small or medium sized health facility/sector/service.
You will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of person-centred care; and lead, support and supervise other nurses/ midwives and care roles. You will strive to ensure that the people who receive healthcare experience exceptional care that is person-centred, safe, high quality and compassionate.

As the Clinical Nurse/ Midwife Specialist Grade 2 in Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital Hand Clinic , you will be encouraged to share your clinical expertise and further develop your practice with the professional development opportunities available.
- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse/ Midwife
- Relevant post-registration qualifications or / and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area (i.e. Hand, Wound, Orthopaedic and/or Plastics) of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex trauma clinical care and service delivery issues and problem solve through the development and use of clinical management plans.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making while working as part of a multidisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Demonstrated skills in the development and facilitation of patient and carer education; and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of health-related information technology.
