What you'll be doing
To provide advanced and complex patient care within their area of specialty that reflect current standards of nursing practices and Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures. Mid North Coast Integrated Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs (IMHAOD) will implement a new Emergency Mental Health & Addiction Assessment Team (EMHAART) service that provides safe and easily accessible pathways aimed at improving consumer outcomes and experiences.   

The service will provide consultation triage, assessments, and referral services to the appropriate mental health or substance use disorders (SUD) services for the people of MNCLHD across their lifespan.  MNCLHD has a wide distribution of consumers that have challenges accessing services resulting in the need to refine and centralise ‘front-end’ 24/7 referral, access, and entry pathways as a priority to IMHAOD services.   

This position will undertake assessment and management of MHAOD presentations to ED and when appropriate provide consultation and assessment to emergency services through a virtual care platform and through other modes of communication.   

About You
A dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse, you hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, supported by relevant post‑registration qualifications and over three years of clinical experience aligned with your specialised post‑graduate training. Your practice is grounded in evidence‑based care, professional integrity, and a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes.

You work confidently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to collaborative, patient‑centred care. You bring well‑developed leadership capabilities, with demonstrated experience mentoring and coaching nursing staff to support their professional growth and enhance clinical practice standards.

Your background includes leading and initiating service‑improvement activities aimed at strengthening clinical outcomes, streamlining processes, and enhancing the overall patient experience. You possess advanced mental health knowledge and expert assessment skills, enabling you to respond effectively to complex clinical presentations.
