About the Opportunity

An exciting temporary part-time opportunity is available for an experienced and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join the Acute Pain Service (APS). Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver evidence-based pain management care to patients across a complex acute care setting.
The Acute Pain Service is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting contemporary clinical practice and professional collaboration. You will be supported by the Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery and have access to ongoing professional development and mentorship to help you succeed in the role.

 

What You Will Be Doing

In this role within the Acute Pain Service, you will provide safe, evidence-based and person-centred care to patients experiencing acute and chronic non-cancer pain. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with patients, families and carers to support effective pain management and achieve optimal health outcomes.

You will deliver specialist acute pain management across a diverse clinical setting, including elective and emergency surgical patients, trauma presentations from the Emergency Department, and referrals from specialty units across the hospital.
This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced clinical expertise in a complex and dynamic environment while contributing to high-quality, coordinated and patient-focused care. You will report to the Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery and be supported within a strong culture of collaboration and clinical excellence.


About you

You are a compassionate and motivated clinician committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, person-centred care. You thrive in a collaborative multidisciplinary team, demonstrate sound clinical judgement, and are passionate about improving patient outcomes through clinical excellence.

Essential requirements:

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in pain management of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation. 
Demonstrated clinical knowledge and experience in pain management 
 Strong communication and interpersonal skills
 The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
 Excellent clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
 A compassionate and patient-centred approach to care delivery
