Hawkesbury District Health Service is a teaching hospital in Windsor NSW, providing acute, community and allied health services for the local community and surrounding districts. The service provides 24-hour emergency, medical, surgical, diagnostic, maternity, neonatal, paediatric, palliative, intensive and coronary care services.

The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) Nursing and Midwifery Workforce is committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centred health care in partnership with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams. The Clinical Nurse/Midwife Educator (CNME), working in collaboration with the Nursing/Midwifery Unit Manager, will play a critical role in identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational initiatives for staff within the designated ward or unit.

In this position, the CNME will be responsible for providing comprehensive clinical education, orientation programs, competency accreditation, and ongoing professional development support to nursing and midwifery staff as well as students. The role also includes facilitating the delivery of relevant courses across NBMLHD facilities, contributing to a culture of excellence in nursing and midwifery practice.

What you will bring to the role
 

  1. Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
  2. Relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications in critical care, or such ICU education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer
  3. Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes that align with NSW Health's organisation's CORE values of; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment, when interacting with staff, patients, consumers, and carers.
  4. Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate clinical education at the ward/unit level, and provide support and guidance to ensure an appropriately skilled and qualified nursing and midwifery workforce, working within appropriate models of care
  5. Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement and the maintenance of a learning environment that values and encourages learning and reflective practice.
  6. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation, feedback and conflict resolution
  7. Demonstrated ability to motivate, support and engage people in the clinical setting and work professionally in a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Evidence of computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and record management systems.
