About the Opportunity
This is an exciting new opportunity to take on a newly established Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) position for SWSLHD Transitional Aged Care Program (TACP). This new role has been established to provide support, clinical development & training to staff.
The CNE position will aim to build the capacity of a small nursing workforce to deliver safe evidenced based care and ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures & audit requirements. The CNE will also be responsible for building networks, developing links and attending various committees with community nursing across the District.
The CNE position will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to contribute to the overall improvement of health service delivery and participate in quality projects.
This position is a District wide position and will involve providing support to all our TACP sites (Bankstown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Macarthur and Bowral) and other Ageing Well in Community teams as needed. Location can be negotiated.
What You'll be Doing
Deliver and evaluate clinical education programs in consultation with Management, Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Consultants, to support the delivery of clinical best practice, patient service and enhanced patient outcomes.
Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.
These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.
With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a post graduate qualification in a relevant clinical field or education post graduate qualification or a combination of education training and clinical experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
- Demonstrated understanding of competency-based assessment with experience in education / clinical teaching and developing clinical programs based on adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team.
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care.
- Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
