About the Role

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.

  

The Clinical Nurse Educator provides support and clinical development/ training to staff while fostering a preceptor/mentor role. The role formulates, coordinates, and evaluates unit based educational programs; assessment and demonstration of clinical procedures. 
The aim of the position is to use a participation methodology to build: 

  • The capacity of individuals to deliver safe, evidenced based care, incorporating reflective practice with the aim of continual improvement.
  • A patient and family focused culture that supports the NUM and staff to deliver innovative models of care and proactively manage change.
  • The position contributes to the overall improvement of health service delivery.

 

This position will working 4 days a week, Monday to Thursday with no on-call or night duty. Four weeks of annual leave will be taken during the Christmas New Year period.

Ideal Candidate

  • Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and relevant post registration experience in the specialty.
  • Experience with Joint Replacement procedures including Robotic and Navigated Systems and Sarcoma procedures.
  • Holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications, or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
  • Well-developed leadership, communication skills and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability liaise in a multidisciplinary environment.
