What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) serves as an expert clinical leader responsible for advancing nursing practice and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and evidence-based care within the Critical Care Unit and Emergency Department.
This role provides specialist consultancy, guidance, and leadership to nursing staff, supporting clinical decision-making and fostering professional development through education, mentorship, and research.
The CNC collaborates with Nurse Unit Managers and the Director of Intensive Care and Emergency to develop, implement, and evaluate policies, clinical pathways, and quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes. By integrating clinical expertise with innovation and research, the CNC plays a pivotal role in shaping best practice standards, promoting workforce capability, and driving excellence in patient-centred care.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- A Registered Nurse who has a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification substantial relevant experience within the specialty of ICU and/or ED.
- Demonstrated experience in research activities and in developing, implementing, and evaluating education programs, with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and people from Government and Non-government agencies.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating leadership, initiative, and sound clinical judgment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using MS Office applications and electronic medical record systems, ensuring accurate and timely documentation to support clinical and administrative processes.
