Our Oncology service includes three Oncologists, one Haematologist, two Cancer Care Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNCs), a Haematology CNC, a McGrath Breast Care CNC, treatment room nurses, pharmacist, allied health professionals, and clerical staff. It is a close-knit, collaborative team committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality cancer care to the local community.
About the Role
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant - Cancer Care, you will coordinate and support patients with complex cancer diagnoses across their treatment journey. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager of Cancer and Palliative Care Services, you will provide advanced clinical leadership, patient advocacy, and care coordination within a multidisciplinary environment.
You will work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure seamless, patient-centred care, while also networking with external stakeholders to support continuity across services. This role requires advanced communication and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to manage complex presentations with confidence and compassion.
You will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), experienced CNC colleagues, and the broader Cancer Network. Ongoing professional development is encouraged, with access to specialist education, collaboration opportunities, and peer support to strengthen your expertise and leadership capability within cancer care.
About You
You are a confident and experienced oncology nurse with strong clinical credibility and a passion for supporting patients through challenging diagnoses.
You bring:
- Advanced communication and problem-solving skills
- The ability to coordinate complex care and advocate for patients and families
- Strong networking skills and the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
- A compassionate, resilient, and collaborative approach
Essential Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA with at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time experience in Cancer Care
- Postgraduate nursing qualifications in Cancer Nursing
- Eligibility to drive and willingness to travel for work purposes
