Neuropsychologist – Drug & Alcohol Clinical Services

About the Role
This position offers an exciting opportunity to deliver a specialised neuropsychology consultancy service across the Hunter New England Local Health District. You will provide district-wide training, clinical support, and expert consultation to staff within Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS). In addition, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based neuropsychological assessment, diagnosis, and intervention to clients engaged in DACS programs. The role includes outreach work, requiring flexibility and a commitment to supporting services across the district.

Where You’ll Be Working
You will be based at James Fletcher Hospital in Newcastle, working as part of the broader Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services team within HNELHD. This is a unique role as the sole clinical neuropsychologist in the service, offering the opportunity to shape and influence neuropsychology practice across the district. The position is professionally supported and managed by the District Allied Health Clinical Lead.

About You
You are a skilled and motivated clinical neuropsychologist with a strong understanding of professional, legal, and ethical standards. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. You are passionate about delivering patient-centred, trauma-informed care and are confident working both independently and collaboratively. A willingness to travel to provide outreach services across the district is essential.


Requirements
General registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, with area of practice endorsement in clinical neuropsychology.
Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical neuropsychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognized equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
Eligible to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.

Additional Information
An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
This position is full time; however, part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.

Commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and an understanding of the issues that impact on delivery in relation to the field of psychological practice.
Eligible to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.
