An exciting opportunity is now available for a Clinical Midwife/Nurse Educator to join the Post Natal Ward in a permanent full-time opportunity. This position plays a vital part in shaping the capabilities and confidence of our midwifery workforce through education, training, and ongoing support.

Your role as the Clinical Nurse/Midwife Educator works in consultation with the Nursing/Midwifery Unit Manager. The successful incumbent will identify, develop, implement, and evaluate education for staff working within the ward/unit/service. In this position, you will provide clinical teaching, orientation, skill accreditation, and professional development support for all nursing staff and students. This role fosters a learning environment that is centered on evidence informed practice and supports a culture of learning and skills attainment, in an endeavor to provide the highest possible standard of patient care and will remain abreast of new processes, procedures, policies / equipment and facilitate their translation into practice with colleagues.

What you will bring to the role: 

  1. Current registration to practice as a Registered Midwife or Registered Midwife and Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  2. Relevant clinical/education post registration qualification
  3. Recent extensive clinical experience deemed appropriate by the selection panel
  4. Demonstrated ability to identify learning needs and to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate education.
  5. Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to work in a consultative manner.
  6. Demonstrated previous experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and preceptorship.
  7. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
  8. Commitment to working with N/MUM to establish and maintain a learning environment that values and encourages learning and reflective practice.
