What you'll be doing

The Clinical Documentation Specialist role supports clinicians in ensuring accurate inpatient medical records, reflecting the true patient journey. This position improves documentation quality for better service planning, research, and clinical coding.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting clinicians in accurate documentation practices.
  • Education on capturing patient complexity and care.
  • Ensuring records reflect the true patient journey.
  • Enhancement of data for clinical coding and research purposes.
  • Contributing to service planning and quality improvement.

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Recent, extensive experience working in a large, tertiary acute care environment with an in depth understanding of the treatment needs of highly complex patients.
  2. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience delivering presentations to all levels of staff, including senior clinicians, within the organisation.
  3. Proven ability and experience in implementing change management processes in a broad health care setting.
  4. Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously and within a team.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement principles and improved health care outcomes.
  6. Basic understanding of benchmarking, activity targets and KPIs and how they fit into an Activity Based Management model.
  7. Advanced computing skills in Microsoft and relevant packages with demonstrated experience in collecting and managing data.
