What you will bring to the role

  1. Clinical experience in an acute care environment and/or formal qualifications as a Health Information Manager/Clinical Coder, with demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience across a broad range of specialties in a tertiary hospital.
  2. Extensive knowledge of clinical documentation standards and a strong understanding of clinical coding documentation requirements.
  3. Demonstrated ability to implement change initiatives within a large and complex health service environment, with the capability to develop and deliver education to clinical staff on continuous documentation quality improvement.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal skills, with experience engaging and influencing key stakeholders and multidisciplinary groups to align efforts toward a common vision or goal.
  5. Highly professional oral and written communication skills, particularly in the development and delivery of reports, training materials, education sessions, and presentations that promote the importance of quality documentation for accurate coding and appropriate reimbursement allocation.
  6. Demonstrated experience with electronic medical records (eMR) and understanding of 3M Codefinder and its relevance to clinical coding and Activity-Based Funding.
  7. Strong analytical, organisational, and time-management skills to manage a high-volume workload effectively, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team. Willingness to work outside normal hours when required to meet with clinicians.
  8. Willingness to upskill in clinical documentation improvement and undertake Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) training as needed.
