The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Child Wellbeing Coordinator to join our PARVAN Strategic Team on a Temporary Part Time basis. This role is a vital component of the NSW Government’s response to the Wood Special Commission of Inquiry into Child Protection and the Keep Them Safe: A Shared Approach to Child Wellbeing 2009–2014 (KTS) reform package.
As a Child Wellbeing Coordinator, you will work collaboratively across the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District to strengthen child protection practices, enhance interagency collaboration, and support Mandatory Reporters in meeting their legislative responsibilities. What you will bring to the role:
- Significant experience and demonstrated understanding of child protection principles and practice, including relevant legislation and child protection reporting responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of consultation and/or education regarding child protection principles and practice.
- Experience in reviewing clinical or system issues, and participation in improving individual clinical responses and/ or broader clinical or process systems.
- Demonstrated capacity to work in partnership with key multidisciplinary and interagency stakeholders to provide a trauma informed and child safety informed focused response to vulnerable families.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently without direct supervision and also in a team. Experience in having sound judgement for when to escalate matters and issues to manager.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including interagency negotiation skills, ability to provide timely and relevant advice, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites and facilities across the District.
