Child and Family Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 positions available within the dynamic, innovative NSLHD Child & Family Health Service. A Registered Nurse (RN) with Child and Family Health qualifications will find rewards and challenge in a position which extends their role and provides a continuum of care in the support of families. The role involves working autonomously undertaking home visiting, providing child health checks, and advance clinical practice.

Where you'll be working
 
Lower North Shore Ryde Sector. We are also welcoming applicants to create an eligibility list for those CFHNs interested in working in any future Child and Family Health CNS2 roles in the Northern Beaches and Hornsby Sectors.

What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS2) works as part of the Extended Child and Family Heath Support Service (ECFHSS) within the community-health based, multidisciplinary Child and Family Health Service. The ECFHS is an early intervention service supporting parents/primary carers, with children aged 0-to commencing school, who are experiencing health and/or psychosocial challenges, which are impacting their own wellbeing and/or their capacity to parent and care for their child.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners’ Regulation Authority (APHRA), with post-registration qualifications relevant to child and family health (CFH) nursing and at least three (3) years full time equivalent clinical experience working in a child and family community health setting or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to apply high level CFH skills, knowledge and clinical reasoning relevant to assessing parent-child relationships, all aspects of child health, development and wellbeing, parental psychosocial and emotional needs and formulating care plans.
  3. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of, and ability to apply, family- partnership, person-centred, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and inclusive care principles in practice.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a community health setting, and autonomously apply clinical reasoning to interpret complex assessment findings and making decision about client-goal oriented care plans.
