Our Medical Imaging Department is a high-performing, technologically advanced service supporting emergency, trauma, oncology, surgery, critical care and specialist clinical services across multiple imaging modalities.

What you'll be doing 
As Chief Radiographer, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership across the Medical Imaging Department, ensuring exceptional clinical service delivery, workforce performance and continuous improvement.

This highly visible leadership role will see you:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of a large multidisciplinary Medical Imaging service across all imaging modalities.

  • Drive workforce engagement, recruitment, succession planning, coaching and professional development to build high-performing teams.

  • Champion quality, patient safety, governance, accreditation and service improvement initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes.

  • Oversee operational performance, financial management, procurement, capital equipment planning and resource optimisation.

  • Collaborate with clinicians, executives, researchers and external stakeholders to deliver innovative, patient-centred imaging services aligned with organisational priorities.

 

You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation and continuous improvement while ensuring services remain responsive to the evolving healthcare needs of our community.

Essential requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Medical Radiation Science Diagnostic Radiography

  • Registration: AHPRA registered

  • Licence: NSW EPA Radiation Licence

 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.

  2. Degree in Medical Radiation Science (Diagnostic Radiography) or equivalent qualification accredited by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT) as rendering the holder eligible for membership, registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and possess a licence to operate irradiating apparatus under the NSW Radiation Control Act (NSW EPA Radiation Licence).

  3. Postgraduate management qualifications and/or equivalent management experience in a complex health environment.

  4. Demonstrated experience in human resource management, including recruitment, payroll and performance appraisal.

  5. Experience in the management and implementation of WHS Principles, quality assurance and Radiation Safety.

  6. Proven ability in the establishment and maintenance of clinical protocols, policies and safe work practices.

  7. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills as well as organisational skills, including goal achievement, workload prioritization, and problem solving.

  8. Knowledge and application of the financial management of cost centres.
