Join our dynamic team at Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) as a Senior Social Worker (NSW Health Professional Award Level 3) within the Women's and Children's Social Work team at Gosford Hospital, with the potential to provide outreach services at Wyong Hospital, and be a crucial part of delivering optimal health outcomes and psychosocial care.

About the Role

In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting patients and their families during pregnancy, birthing and in their emotional and psychosocial response to illness diagnosis and treatment. As a Senior Social Worker, you will draw upon your clinical expertise to deliver top-tier care within a multidisciplinary framework. Your trauma informed, person-centred and culturally responsive practice will provide comprehensive assessments, crisis management and brief therapeutic intervention.  Your understanding of theoretical frameworks will meet the unique and varied needs of individuals and families alongside facilitating seamless transitions the health care system.

You will also provide senior leadership to fellow inpatient social workers, proactive service development, education, and supervision.

The Senior Clinician will work with the multidisciplinary team, senior managers, internal and external service partners and other inpatient social workers to ensure the delivery of effective and proactive social work services and psychosocial care.

About You
You have: 
  • A Bachelor of Social Work degree, with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and a demonstrated understanding of the current AASW Practice Standards as they relate to the position.
  • Significant demonstrated social work experience and a well-developed understanding of the psychosocial issues that arise for patients and their families during pregnancy, birthing and chronic and acute illness and trauma.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing person centred, trauma informed and culturally responsive psychosocial assessment, crisis and brief intervention Social Work services preferably within a health clinical setting and/or within the specified clinical specialty of hospital Women’s and Children services.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in providing leadership, supervision and mentor support to staff and students as well as experience as a proactive senior member of a multidisciplinary team.
