About the Role

Based at Gosford Hospital, this position will provide acute care and crisis intervention in the Central Coast community. You will work a rotating 7 day roster within the team and may be required to support other mental health teams to provide safe and effective care. 

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Acute Care Team (ACT) offers expert guidance to consumers, performs clinical mental health assessments, and provides consultations to carers and other healthcare professionals. 

In this position, you will advocate for a client-centered, family-friendly, and carer-supportive approach when assisting consumers with mental health-related illnesses/disorders. Responsibilities include receiving and triaging referrals from inpatient and community mental health services, and the Mental Health Line. Additionally, the RN ACT will possess the necessary training and experience to offer expert mental health clinical expertise and nursing knowledge.

About You

  • Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Effective communicator who collaborates well with consumers, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
  • Proactive in engaging with professional development and continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical practice.
  • Passionate about supporting mental health consumers and contributing positively to the wellbeing of the Central Coast community.
