About the Role
Our services are dynamic, innovative, and leaders in trauma informed, culturally safe and strength based care. We have a primary role of establishing safety and stabilisation for children, young people, individuals and families and work across the health system to support healing and recovery, with a focus on increasing capacity and wellbeing. We are committed to ongoing development and continuous improvement and strive for a flexible and responsive public health response to Violence Abuse and Neglect. This role is Monday to Friday that also requires participation in a after hours on call roster.
As Nurse Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, integrated medical and forensic care. You will lead a small, dedicated team of nurses, providing expert clinical guidance, supervision, and support in a sensitive and trauma-informed environment.
In partnership with the Medical Lead for VAN, you will drive clinical excellence, guide service innovation, and oversee continuous quality improvement initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a team of nurses and providing clinical supervision and mentorship.
- Leading and coordinating the medical and forensic response to violence, abuse, and neglect.
- Overseeing non-acute clinical care, integrated crisis response, follow-up services, and care navigation.
- Developing and implementing strategic plans, clinical education programs, and practice improvements.
- Collaborating with NSW Health, NSW Police, judicial partners, and other stakeholders to ensure culturally safe, patient-centred care.
- Contributing to state and national clinical groups and advancing evidence-based practice.

About You
- Current authority to practice unrestricted as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Completed the NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence Graduate Certificate in the Medical and Forensic Management of Adult Sexual Assault (or equivalent) and have completed at least three supervised medical and forensic consultations on a patient reporting recent sexual assault.
- Have completed or be studying towards within 6 months of commencing in the role: Education Centre Against Violence training modules Forensic Photography; Supervised Medico-Legal; and Provide a Medical and Forensic Response to Domestic and Family Violence (when available), or equivalent courses.
- Extensive experience in relevant clinical speciality such as violence abuse and neglect, sexual health, family planning, women's health, obstetrics, gynaecology or emergency.
- Post registration nursing qualifications relevant to the field of sexual assault, or other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the district.
- Ability to participate in an after-hours on-call roster (at minimum frequency of 6 shifts per month) and/or extended shift work if required.
- Current driving licence with eligibility to drive in NSW and ability to work across various locations and outreach clinics.
- National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.
