About the Opportunity
As the Director Health Promotion and Population Health, you will provide strategic leadership for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of population-wide health promotion initiatives aligned with national, state, and local priorities. You will lead prevention-focused programs across key areas including tobacco control, alcohol harm minimisation, healthy eating and active living, and healthy ageing.
This executive leadership role is instrumental in shaping the future health of the Central Coast community through evidence-based practice, partnership development, and system-wide influence. In this role you will:
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of Health Promotion strategies and programs aligned with Ministry of Health, District, and national priorities.
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders, stakeholders, and partner organisations on effective Population Health Improvement practices.
- Establish and strengthen partnerships across health, government, community, and non-government sectors to support collaborative prevention initiatives.
- Analyse population health trends, demographic data, and equity issues to inform strategic planning and service delivery.
- Promote innovation, evidence-based practice, and continuous improvement to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities.
- Represent Health Promotion at senior District, state, and national forums and contribute to broader policy and program development.
- Lead community engagement and consultation activities to ensure services are responsive to the needs of the Central Coast population.
- Oversee program evaluation, strategic communication, and media engagement to maximise the impact of population health initiatives.
- Manage departmental resources, workforce performance, governance, quality improvement, and risk management activities.
Foster a positive and high-performing culture through leadership, mentoring, coaching, and workforce capability development.

About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Extensive leadership experience in Health Promotion, Population Health, Public Health, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing large-scale prevention and health improvement strategies.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills across diverse sectors and communities.
- Strong analytical capability with experience using population health data, demographic trends, and evaluation findings to inform decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior executives, government agencies, and external partners.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of risk management, governance, quality improvement, and resource management principles.
- Excellent communication, presentation, advocacy, and media engagement skills.
- A commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and culturally appropriate service delivery.
- Tertiary qualifications in Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Management, or a related field, with relevant postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
