Are you passionate about delivering high-quality, evidence-based psychological care in an acute mental health setting? At Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD), we are seeking a Clinical Psychologist or Senior Clinical Psychologist to join an innovative, new, allied health led, mental health initiative based at Wyong Hospital.

The Brief Intervention Mental Health Service (BIMHS) team is a community-based team that provides stepped-care options including brief intervention (Project Air), short term step-up allied health packages and prescription of internet-based therapies for people recovering from mental health crisis. This is a rare opportunity to showcase your exceptional clinical psychology skills as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team that makes real impact on people’s recovery.


About the Opportunity

As a Clinical Psychologist / Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will provide comprehensive psychological assessment and formulations, evidence-based group and individual psychological interventions, and consultation services. You will also have the opportunity to provide supervision for psychology students and registrars within the Mental Health Allied Health team. 

In this role you will:

  • Provide comprehensive psychological assessment and formulations, develop recovery-focused treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based psychological interventions through individual and group therapy.
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment, including suicide risk formulation and safety planning, while supporting consumers experiencing high levels of distress.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, person-centred care, while providing consultation, psychoeducation and support to families and carers.
  • Contribute to innovative models of care, clinical supervision, professional development, and quality improvement initiatives to support improved outcomes for the Central Coast community.

This role ensures high-quality patient care through its contribution to the multidisciplinary team, enhancing the overall patient experience in an acute inpatient mental health setting.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Minimum Tertiary Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with AHPRA registration OR Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology with endorsement to practice as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA, OR eligibility to undertake registrar program for endorsement in clinical psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience in provision of evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment for adults with a broad range of mental health conditions.
  • Ability to provide independent clinical judgement.
  • Sound communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
