About the Role: 


The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert clinical nurse providing leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of nursing across service groups, multidisciplinary teams and target populations. The CNC works collaboratively to formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. 

This position plays a key role in contributing to all matters relating to high quality care and safe nursing practice. In this role you will:

  • Lead and inspire your team by being a clinical role model, sharing your advanced expertise, good judgement, and commitment to professional excellence.

  • Provide expert, person-centred advice to patients, their families, and healthcare teams, supporting complex clinical decisions to ensure care is safe, effective, and top quality, while also leading exciting projects that drive improvements in patient safety, care quality, and risk management. 

  • Mentor, coach, and support nursing and multidisciplinary teams to grow their skills and confidence and involved in strategic and service delivery planning.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to promote a supportive environment.

    About You: 

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and ability to meet the essential criteria of the role.

  • Have at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.

  • Proven clinical leadership skills, with an ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Expert clinical ICU knowledge and skill and strong leadership skills with a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.

  • Commitment to excellence in nursing practice. Collaborative skills demonstrated in clinical service planning, including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural changes processes
