The Carers Program Coordinator role provides an opportunity to lead meaningful, system wide change by strengthening how carers are recognised, supported and included across South Western Sydney Local Health District. As the lead for the district’s Carers Program, the position drives the implementation of key strategies such as NSW Health’s Carers Key Directions to ensure carers are valued as partners in care and that staff are equipped to support them effectively. This role is essential to building a more inclusive, person centred health system that acknowledges the contribution of carers and embeds carer inclusive practice into everyday service delivery.
Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate is an experienced project leader with a strong understanding of carer needs, and the challenges carers face within the health system. They bring demonstrated skills in planning, implementing, and evaluating health or community focused initiatives, supported by excellent communication, training, and stakeholder engagement capabilities, along with a proven ability to manage competing priorities. They model inclusive practice aligned with NSW Health’s Key Directions by recognising carers as partners in care and working collaboratively with consumers, staff, government, and community organisations. Proficiency with Microsoft programs and experience in website content management will further support success in this role. Personal attributes such as adaptability, sound judgement and a commitment to improving outcomes for carers are also essential.
Selection Criteria

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (health promotion/education, allied health, communication, etc.) as determined by the employer.
- Describe your experience leading programs or initiatives, outlining how you have provided leadership, managed staff or stakeholders, and implemented projects or events that improved outcomes for carers, or that strengthened consumer, family, or community experiences in a health or community setting. Please include how you have used research, data, or evidence to guide priorities or decision making.
- Describe your skills and experience in developing and delivering education, training or resources that build staff capability or support service improvement. Include an example that demonstrates how you used communication skills, digital platforms or partnerships to enhance engagement and impact.
Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
