Junior Medical Officer


 

Deliver clinical sexual health services to target groups as specified in the NSW Sexual Health Strategy. Participate in the research and quality assurance activities of the Nepean Blue Mountains Sexual Health Clinics. Provide inservice Sexual Health Education to the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health Network. All patients managed within the hospitals of the health district are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding their care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver clinical sexual health services to target populations as specified by the NSW HIV, STI and Hepatitis C Strategies. These services will be provided within the sexual health service. 
  • Deliver holistic sexual health medicine service to the NBMLHD population.


 

Where you'll be working

  • You will provide outpatient care as well as consultation for inpatients from other departments.
  • Blue Mountains Sexual Health Clinic is located in Katoomba. If desired, you will have the opportunity to experience clinics in a regional setting.
  • Nepean Hospital is only 45 minutes by train and drive against peak hour traffic from the inner west of Sydney. There is plenty of onsite and offsite parking.


 


 

Essential requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  • Completion of a minimum of four years postgraduate experience. 
  • Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 3 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position. 
  • Experience in reproductive health, genital dermatology, gender affirming care and/or sexual dysfunction desirable. 
  • Actively work as a productive member of a multidisciplinary team consisting of medical, nursing, counselling, health education, health promotion and administrative staff.
  • Have good computer literacy skills.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the needs of priority populations as specified in the NSW HIV and STI strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Have experience in research projects and teaching.
  • Have experience in STI and HIV medicine. Completed S100 HIV prescriber training desirable. 
  • Be willing to undergo further training in HIV and Sexual Health as directed by the Head of Department.
  • This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent’s registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role. 
  • Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.
  • To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.

  5. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and self-education.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
