What You'll be doing
Provide a high first-line standard of Medical care to patients admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, including assessment, investigation, treatment and referral for specialist care, in consultation with the designated Staff Specialist. The position requires working a rotating roster, including weekends and nights. Where You'll Be Working 
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

 

 

How to Apply  
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible. View our application guide for information on how to respond to criteria and improve your application

  1. MBBS or equivalent qualification recognised by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) 
  2. Current Medical Registration, (or be eligible for registration) with the Medical Board of Australia. For International Medical Graduate applicants (excluding NZ Graduates) at least one year's experience in area of speciality within Australia. 
  3. Extensive demonstrated post graduate experience relevant to the care of the sick Newborn, including an aggregate of at least 24 months tertiary unit experience at the level of Trainee or above. There should be no more than a two (2) year break between clinical appointments. 
  4. Knowledge of contemporary Clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute conditions in the care of the Newborn. Demonstrate ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising skills, judgement and expertise to provide a high standard of patient care. 
  5. Demonstrated high level of organisational, communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with patients and their families, multidisciplinary health care team and broader internal and external stakeholders. 
  6. Sound knowledge of and commitment to Quality Management, Ethnic practice and Cultural Diversity 
  7. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and staff and non-clinical staff working in the Neonatal Intensive Care setting 
  8. Ability to work in a computerised environment.
