Essential to meet the Career Medical Officer role requirements is:

  • Full unconditional General Registration with AHPRA
  • Australian Emergency Medicine experience at CMO level

In this role, you’ll be part of a supportive and close-knit Emergency Department where your clinical skills directly contribute to the wellbeing of the Lake Macquarie community. You’ll work alongside a diverse team of medical professionals including Staff Specialists, CMOs, SRMOs, Junior doctors, nurses, and allied health staff who are united by a shared commitment to delivering high-quality emergency care.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver direct emergency care and coordinate clinical management in collaboration with Emergency Physicians and Admitting Medical Officers.
  • Lead and support junior doctors and medical students, fostering a culture of learning and mentorship.
  • Participate in night shifts and after-hours rosters, ensuring 24/7 care for patients.
  • Coordinate resuscitation efforts for critically ill adults and children, with support from senior clinicians and retrieval services.
  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team environment that values education, research, and work/life balance.



What We’re Looking For:

  • Full General Registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum three years’ recent experience in Emergency Medicine
  • Ability to take on in-charge responsibilities in an urban district ED
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia
