BreastScreen Radiographer/Mammography Practitioner
Play a vital role in early breast cancer detection – join a supportive team delivering high-quality screening across Hunter New England.
Remuneration: $38.35 - $63.54 Per Hour + Super
Location: BreastScreen Waratah and East Maitland
Employment Type: Various
Position Classification: Radiographer Level 2, Radiographer Level 3 Grade 1, Mammography Technologist
Hours Per Week: 35
Requisition ID: REQ569269
Applications Close: Sunday 27/04/2025
Where you'll be working:
Join the BreastScreen NSW team, based at our fixed sites in Waratah and the brand-new East Maitland (Green Hills) clinic. You’ll also be rostered to work on our mobile screening vans, which provide outreach services to rural and regional communities across Hunter New England. These travel opportunities offer a rewarding chance to support equitable healthcare access and are highly appreciated by the communities we serve.
Travel away typically involves one week at a time, with the team travelling together in a work vehicle and during work hours. While consecutive weeks away can occur, extended periods on the road are not the norm. You’ll also be rostered to commutable mobile sites involving day trips from Waratah – returning home the same day.
About the role:
We’re looking for a dedicated Radiographer to join our BreastScreen NSW team, supporting women through their breast screening journey. In this role, you’ll rotate between fixed screening and assessment clinics and our mobile sites, where you’ll be part of a small, supportive team providing a vital health service to rural and regional communities.
This opportunity arises due to the retirement of a long-serving radiographer of 20 years. We’re offering one full-time permanent position and a temporary full-time maternity relief contract. We’re also open to part-time arrangements, with the understanding that some travel (including overnight) will still be required.
About you:
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Are a qualified Radiographer or Mammography Practitioner (or eligible for registration in Australia)
- Are client-focused with a warm and empathetic approach
- Enjoy working as part of a close-knit and skilled multidisciplinary team
- Are open to travel and value the opportunity to provide care in a variety of settings
- Have strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Are eager to develop your skills in breast imaging (we’ll provide mammography training if needed)
What we can offer you:
At Hunter New England Health, enjoy a career where you're challenged by interesting work and surrounded by spectacular locations. Join the team enriching health in millions of ways every day:
- Sustainable Healthcare: Together towards zero
- Proximity to shopping and other services
- Monthly Allocated Days Off (for full-time employees)
- 4 weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part-time employees)
- 6 weeks annual leave (for eligible full-time nurses)
- Paid parental leave (for eligible employees) – giving you the opportunity for true work-life balance
- Salary packaging options – up to $11,600 plus novated leasing
- Fitness Passport for health and well-being – discounted gym options for you and your family
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members
- Opportunity to work and collaborate with a range of non-clinical and clinical professionals
Support and development:
You’ll be welcomed and guided by our Designated Radiographer and a dedicated team passionate about breast screening. We have in-house Tutors who provide comprehensive training and ongoing support. Whether you're experienced or looking to specialise in mammography, we’ll provide the right level of orientation, training, and professional development tailored to your background.
