Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. We are seeking a motivated Billing Officer to join our team and support our Cancer Services department!

This role is responsible for overseeing the processing and billing of all consultations, procedures, treatments and testing of Cancer Services inpatients and outpatients, as well as ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the financial extract, ultimately maximising revenue collection within the Service.

The successful candidate will leverage their relevant expertise and skills, particularly their knowledge of relevant procedures, relevant systems used as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Demonstrated experience in Medicare/ DVA and Private Health Fund billing procedures and reconciliation of billing/ patient accounts.
  2. Sound knowledge of patient admission/classification procedures including various fees and charges available.
  3. Experience and knowledge regarding HIC policies and procedures {Medicare), scheduled fees and provider numbers, etc.
  4. Demonstrated skills and experience with PBRC, MOSAIQ, iPM, Cerner, Revenue spreadsheets and production of reports.
  5. Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to work under pressure, maintaining attention to detail and meet deadlines
  6. Ability to work independently within minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  8. Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team to achieve revenue targets
