We are seeking an innovative and motivated medical leader to join Belmont Hospital as Clinical Director of General Medicine. Belmont Hospital provides an important sub-acute and acute service within HNELHD, with a focus on integrated, patient-centred care delivered close to home.


The Opportunity
As Clinical Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to the General Medicine department, including governance oversight of the dedicated Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and Clinical Observation Unit (COU).


Working alongside our senior management team, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, evidence-based, and patient-centred care, aligned with HNELHD’s strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
You will:
• Lead the strategic planning and development of General Medicine services
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, coordinated care aligned with organisational goals
• Champion HNELHD’s Excellence, Evidence Based Leadership Framework and CORE Values
• Build and sustain collaborative partnerships across services, networks and stakeholders
• Oversee clinical governance, including risk, safety, quality improvement, audit and M&M activity
• Promote and implement evidence-based policies and protocols
• Support and lead education and training across undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Foster a culture of research and continuous improvement, translating evidence into practice
• Respond to feedback, incidents and complaints to enhance patient and staff experience


About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and AHPRA registration
• Demonstrated senior leadership experience in general medicine or a relevant subspecialty
• Proven ability to design and optimise models of care, manage resources and deliver outcomes
• Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, negotiation and change leadership
• A passion for education, training and accreditation excellence
• A commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement and patient-centred care
